Matt Burchard is a saxophonist, educator, composer and arranger based in Denver, CO. He is a versatile musician, feeling equally at home playing classical, jazz, funk, Broadway shows or Latin music. Matt holds a Bachelors of Music Performance degree from the University of Denver, and a Masters of Jazz Performance from the University of Miami. While at DU, Matt won many of the university’s most prestigious awards, including the Outstanding Senior in Performance award, and the Presser Scholarship. He has appeared on stage with several big names in jazz and pop music, including Gloria Estefan, Bruce Hornsby, Shelly Berg, Danilo Perez, Maria Schneider, David Liebman, Brian Lynch and Wayne Bergeron. Matt was a semi-finalist in the 2014 North American Saxophone Alliance Jazz Competition, and was named one of KUVO’s “30 Under 30” jazz musicians. Currently, Matt maintains a busy performance schedule, playing with some of Colorado’s finest ensembles. These include the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, the Wash Park Band, and the pit orchestra at Boulder’s Dinner Theatre. Matt also runs the band program at Most Precious Blood Catholic School.
