Theater Showcase Series

We are excited to announce Maestro Music Institute’s Theater Showcase Series.  Our first theater showcase will feature a performance in March and will highlight music and monologues from the wonderful world of Broadway. These showcases are designed to give the opportunity for students to be creative in their performances by adding costumes and props and an in-depth look into each genre and character. This is a chance to go above and beyond and to challenge yourself for a fun and immersive performance.

Ready, Set, Perform!

This isn’t your average studio recital where student get up, state their name and their piece, perform, take a bow and leave the stage. This is intended to be much more interactive, lively and fun!  So, we are encouraging creating costumes and using props or small set pieces for all participant’s performances. Students are free to take this opportunity to dress up their performance (literally and figuratively) and use their own creativity to make themselves and their performances shine – have fun with it and really take it as far as you would like!

Guideline for Preparation

For these showcases, we ask for ONE solo, or small ensemble number, ONE monologue or short scene, and ONE group number to be performed by the entire company. There is a list of age appropriate selections, which will be provided for your reference. It is not necessary to pick one of those selections, however, if you do choose a selection from the list, Maestro Music Institute will provide you with the sheet music at no cost. If you do not choose something from that list, it will be the participant’s responsibility to provide proper sheet music for our provided accompanist. Please provide your choice of three selections of each of the musical numbers and the monologues prior to the first group meeting.

At the first meeting we will be holding “auditions”, which will primarily be for the purpose of song selection for each performer and to ensure that each performer is singing a different piece. All students that register for MMI’s Showcase Series will be included in the final performance.  We want to help performers choose material that will encourage them to challenge and stretch themselves as performers, but also to be achievable within the time frame of each showcase so that they can have a successful performance and mostly, to have fun and enjoy what they’re doing!
