CAMP CLASSES

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Seussical is fun for the whole family! Performers of all ages will be excited to portray the characters from the familiar Dr. Seuss fables. This musical provides wonderful creative opportunities for set, lighting and costume design.

Campers will participate in a variety of musical theater classes during the week:

PRODUCTION & PERFORMANCE

Each camper will be involved in every aspect of creating this show. Not only will your child be a part of the cast but they will also help to design and build both the set, costumes, and assist with stage and house management, working and learning alongside trained professionals in the theater field.

ACTING CLASSES

Daily acting classes will provide fun technical training and character building exercises that promote confidence and experience. The classes will include fun and challenging acting games and even some specialty training, such as stage combat! Students will work in teams or individually to create, cast, direct and star in their very own short scenes, performing for each other during the camp.

VOICE LESSONS

In daily voice lessons your child will work one on one with professional coaches to reach new heights in their vocal abilities. Lessons will be tailored to the individual needs of each student ranging from learning basic fundamentals like breathing techniques and pitch matching to more advanced concepts like projection and musical interpretation in a variety of musical styles. Our coaches provide a knowledgeable and well-rounded approach to healthy vocal production.

Included in this years camp will be special seminars showcasing all aspects of the musical theater world such as, resume building, headshots, audition preparation, movement and dance training, makeup, lighting, design and sound engineering, and much more.
