Melody Joy (MJ) has had a song in her heart since she was very, very young. She started saxophone and piano lessons at age seven. She played in a private band from age 7 to age 17 as well as playing in school band at Denver Christian. She began studying flute at age thirteen. She taught herself guitar at age fourteen. She participated in many singing groups over the years. She graduated from Colorado State University Fort Collins with a degree in Music Education K-12 choral and instrument in 1979 where her main instrument was the bassoon. She taught Middle School Music in Cherry Creek for a few years. MJ has four grown children she chose to educate at home. She received her Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012 with an emphasis in music theory and voice and her Master of Arts in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Denver Seminary in 2020. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Education curriculum and instruction for Liberty University and a Doctorate of Philosophy in psychology cognition and instruction from Grand Canyon University.
