Beth Secrist – Founder of Maestro Music Institute, Piano

Beth Secrist began her musical training on the piano at age 9 and continued her studies through high school and then college, first attending Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA on a piano performance scholarship. Post-college, Beth chose to pursue interests in the corporate world, working in a variety of industries for the next 15+ years, though always maintaining her musical interests through teaching in her own private studio. In 2008, Beth decided to make a radical career change which led her back to where her passion truly was—music. She returned to teaching and to school with the vision of living her dream—to start her own school of music.

In 2012, she along with her brother David, founded Maestro Music Institute. The school started small, only offering piano lessons through her own private studio in Denver and working with area schools and churches to bring music back to their schools with on-site lessons. In 2013, the Arvada studio opened and began accepting new students. In late 2014, the Arvada studio had outgrown its space and moved into the commercial space we now occupy on West 64th & Ward Rd. Maestro Music Institute now offers instrumental and vocal music lessons in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, accoustic & electric guitar, banjo, drums, flute, saxophone, and clarinet.

MMI also has summer camps for instrumental ensembles and theater and holds regular recitals and performances throughout the year for their students to showcase their accomplishments. During MMI’s first year, Beth along with fellow pianist, Emily Mesenbrink-Keelan, authored the first in a series of method books entitled “Maestro Music Methods”, dedicated to the very young pianist. In 2013, the second method book in the series was completed and published and in the fall of 2015, “The Workbook: building scales, chords and arpeggios” was completed and published. Beth and Emily are working on the next book in the series and expect to have it completed in the near future.
