Event Series: Maestro Band

This ensemble/class is for:

  • Beginning to intermediate ukulele, guitar, piano, bass guitar, and drum set students.
  • Beginning to intermediate voice, strings, woodwinds, and brass students.
  • Ages 3 – 18

In this ensemble/class you will:

  • Learn about basic song form
  • Play songs using only a few easy chords
  • Play songs with other students
  • Learn dynamics (volume)
  • Learn new rhythms
  • Learn the difference between “practice” and “rehearsal”

Optional:

  • Learn how to arrange songs and even write songs
  • Learn how to write lyrics in basic song form
  • Learn how to write and improvise a melody over chord changes
  • Write new songs as a group

Prerequisites (if you don’t know any of these, ask your private teacher):

All students should know the names of the notes and chords that they know how to play.

Ukulele students should know the chords CM, Am, FM, Dm, and GM (and eventually DM, Em, and maybe AM). Your ukulele must be tuned before coming to class.

Guitar students should know the chords Am, Em, CM, DM, and GM (and eventually Dm, AM, and maybe EM). Your guitar must be tuned before coming to class. Guitar students must also have a capo.

Bass Guitar students should know the notes A, B, C, D, E, F, G (and eventually Low E, Low F, Low G, High A, High B, and maybe High C). Your bass guitar must be tuned before coming to class.

Drum Set students should know how to read rhythms (notes and rests) and how to read drum set notation on the staff.

Piano students should know how to read notes on the staff (treble clef and bass clef), Middle C Position, C Position, and G Position (and eventually chords like CM, Dm, FM, GM, Am, and maybe DM, Em, and AM).

Voice, strings, woodwinds, and brass students should know how to read notes on the staff (in the appropriate clef for your voice/instrument).

Tuition – $350 + $35 Registration Fee
